There’s going to come a point at which we have to inform our son that dinosaurs are not alive anymore. Thanks a lot dinosaurs, you jerks.
The other day, I legit chased my toddler around my street with no pants. ZERO pants. He was running all over the street and I didn’t have time to think about whether or not neighbors could see my saggy white rear end peeking out from underneath my shirt. I had a toddler to catch. If you happened to look out of your window and you live on my street… you’re welcome.

*Warning!!! Extremely sappy and from the heart…*
Thank you David for the flowers in honor of our anniversary.
I love flowers.
They are the vehicle of such lavish artistry from our Creator.
They awaken four of the five senses: touch, smell, sight and in some cases, taste.
I’m not sure I’ve ever told Dave why I like them so much. Aside from my appreciation of all things aesthetically pleasing, there was a time where I didn’t get flowers.
Every time flowers were sold in the school, there was a little girl hoping she might get a flower. After years of never getting flowers, it was clear that flowers were for other girls.
I could write terms papers, paint lovely works of art, run five miles… but flowers…. nope. Not one of those girls.
I don’t have particularly outstanding looks and I’m more than just a little quirky. I laugh like Scooby Doo and I’m more than a might too independent.
But throughout my early adulthood I held on to the belief that there would be someone who would give me flowers. That I didn’t need to become “one of those girls” and I could just be me.
The beginning of my story is that God loves me just for who I am. And then, to cap it off, he sent me David too.
I love that God created flowers. Utterly ridiculous beauty that has nothing to do with anything except to give us great pleasure.
God sent me a man that lavishes his love on me and gives me beautiful flowers. In particular, two beautiful flowers named Joshua and Samuel. I am humbled every single day.
I made a giant pan of Rice Krispy treats tonight. Not for the kids. For Dave and I. After the kids were in bed. What’s that Josh? Oh yeah. You bet your britches we have fun after you go to sleep. It’s our reward for adulting all day and all night for you and your brother. Oh, and one day, when you’re rounding third base because you’re so darn fast you earned the nickname “The Flash,” just remember Speed Racer: you got your hustle from both sides of the family. Now, get a move on. The catcher’s not looking!!
Josh had salmon earlier at 11 AM. A “second breakfast” or “early lunch” if you will. He didn’t eat all of it. Around 12:30 he rolls back up to the table wanting a “snack.” Me: “Josh, you need to finish the salmon and rice from earlier.” Him: “No, I don’t want that.” Me: “Ok, no problem. When you’re hungry, you can just come back to it.” I go back to working on my computer. I look out of the corner of my eye and watch him. Two minutes later, he’s looking at me sideways and slowly grabs the corner of his plate and pulls it in front of him. I have my eyes glued to my screen. It took an enormous test of strength not to laugh. Guess who’s finishing his lunch.
The best gift is walking out of the door to my massage appointment with both boys wailing, knowing my capable husband has everything under control. My eyes are burning from caring too much and lack of sleep, but this mothers’ day, a huge fist-bump goes out to my husband who both put me in this predicament and bails me out when I need it most.
