Today’s morning brother fights are brought to you by “I want to get on the stool and see the empty pot on the stove” and “He’s trying to take my potholder.” Serenity now.
The other day, I legit chased my toddler around my street with no pants. ZERO pants. He was running all over the street and I didn’t have time to think about whether or not neighbors could see my saggy white rear end peeking out from underneath my shirt. I had a toddler to catch. If you happened to look out of your window and you live on my street… you’re welcome.

At In N Out this afternoon:
“Give me all the fries you have.”
“But Sam, shouldn’t we save some for your brother when he wakes up?”
Sam: “No.”
Overheard today as I wiped J’s nose: NO, STOP MOM! Those are MY boogers!
Currently following a recipe for banana bread and I hit this little gem: “Beat sugar and eggs with a whisk until light and fluffy, about 10 minutes.” Back it up. Ain’t no way. I don’t care what it does to the recipe. I’d need a few more days in the gym a week (more than the current “zero”) to pull that off. We’re just going to whip out the trusty hand mixer and make some magic. Shut it Martha Stewart, Sara’s in the kitchen now.
The two sick kids and sick husband (3 sick kids) are all put to bed. The rain is slowly dripping outside the window and the dim kitchen light is affording me just enough luminescence to put away the dishware from the six or so feeding frenzies that happened throughout the day. I could do the smart thing and go to bed. But the deafening silence is so delicious. I could stay up stupidly late to let the silence wash over me in waves as I enjoy doing tasks without whining from any and all family members. I could be smart… But we all know what I’m going to do here. There’s always coffee.
