We’re getting our mileage out of those post-Easter Dollar Store plastic eggs.
On this balmy 95 degree spring day in AZ, the boys decided to grab the eggs and Josh, as usual took the position of strategic planner. I watched, amused, as he filled the eggs with a combination of old candy & random leftovers from the fridge & pantry. My only rule was “no chocolate” because, Arizona.
After he was finished he said loudly for no one’s ears but my own, “Ok, I’m finished. But, ahhh, I want to hunt for eggs too. So…. who’s going to hide them?”
I looked at him over my glasses. “Mom’s making lunch.”
I watched him for a second as the dawning of, “I’m not going to be able to hunt” washed over him like a cold shower of reality.
I think Josh just earned his bachelor’s in business… the bizness of growing up.
Next up- a mortgage and 2.5 kids.
There’s something delicious about watching your child go from consumer to strategic planner. But not in everything all at once, mind you.
I’ll hide the eggs tonight and let him seek if he promises me some of those yummy leftovers inside.
