Tonight we needed just a few minutes of adult talk time and J was clamoring to get on my lap. Me to J “Joshua, I’ve paid attention to you all day. You have two choices: you can go out on the porch and play with the doggies or you can watch cartoons.” We watched as Joshua turns around and runs downstairs. Me to Dave under my breath- “I can’t believe that worked.”
Love my husband. As we were planning how to celebrate our anniversary this last weekend, I asked him “Hey, do have any favorite restaurants you’d like to visit?” His response. “Babe, I have no preference. All I need is you and to NOT be on call.” 😉 It’s a doc’s life.
So, I’m just taking a quick bath, because you know, at the end of the day running after an 18-month-old I’m a little ripe. Joshua comes over and starts playfully slapping me on my arm and laughing. In mock seriousness I said, “Joshua, you must be sweet to your mother…the one who gave birth to you. Here, let me show you.” And I pulled his forehead down and gave him a sweet kiss. And then he pulled my forehead down and gave me a sweet kiss. Then he headbutted me. Boys.
As I watch my toddler break down and throw a tantrum for no apparent reason, I cross my arms and I have one thought running through my head, “I will not negotiate with terrorists.”
My independent little boy let me rub his back for a few minutes before naptime. Either he’s getting sick again or he *may* need me for a hot second. Shhh…. let’s not tell him we’re in on the secret.
